Research Associate - Mass Spectrometry

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s Mass Spectrometry Shared Resource is seeking a Research Associate with expertise in intact-protein LC ESI-MS and measurements of chemically modified proteins and peptides. The lab collaborates with research groups at CSHL and external partners, using state-of-the-art mass-spectrometry instrumentation to analyze proteins, peptides, and small molecules. Developing and publishing innovative proteomic and metabolomic approaches is a core mission.

Responsibilities

• Perform sample preparation and analysis.
• Operate Orbitrap mass spectrometers and micro/nanoflow chromatographers.
• Perform data analysis and reporting for proteomic and metabolomic experiments.
• Contribute to development of novel methods and implement new proteomic and metabolomic techniques.
• Assist with instrument maintenance, quality control procedures, and minor equipment troubleshooting.
• Maintain and update written operative procedures and experimental protocols.
• Actively participate in lab meetings, scientific presentations, and journal clubs.

Requirements

• PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• Demonstrable experience with mass spectrometry-based proteomics and high-resolution LC/MS.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Willingness to engage with the CSHL scientific community, explore new topics, and collaborate productively.

Pay

Salary range: $66,300 – $83,460.
