Research Associate in the Academic Support Staff

Responsibilities

  • Planning and executing experiments to study cell signaling and epigenetic mechanisms controlling development, regeneration, stem cell activity, and tumorigenesis of the epidermis and its appendages.
  • Generation and phenotypic analysis of genetic mouse models.
  • Use of genomics techniques including ChIP-seq, RNA-seq and ATAC-seq.
  • Presenting the results of experiments at laboratory meetings, departmental seminars, and national and international meetings.
  • Aiding in the preparation of scientific papers.
  • Supervising junior lab members including technicians and students.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in cell biology, genetics, or related field.
  • Experience with mouse models and genomics techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills

  • Mouse model expertise.
  • Genomics techniques proficiency (ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq).
  • Scientific writing and presentation skills.
  • Supervisory and mentoring abilities.

Benefits

  • Initial appointment for one (1) year, with potential for renewal based on performance and funding availability (up to three (3) years).

Department of Dermatology

The Department of Dermatology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Research Associate positions. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years).
