Research Associate I - School of Medicine (Bilingual)

About the Role

Assists with and/or coordinates portions of research projects under general supervision. This position supports a randomized controlled trial testing whether telephone-based care coordination through 211 LA increases referral to and receipt of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)-related services for children ages 0-11 years and improves parent and child wellbeing outcomes. The role contributes to the KPSOM HSS department’s mission of improving population health and healthcare through systems transformation, community and population health, health care and social systems, quality and safety, and research methods.

Responsibilities

• Collect project data through interviews, chart review, or other methods.
• Set up tracking tools, assist in developing forms, and document procedures.
• Monitor and track studies over time, providing follow-up as needed.
• Summarize data for progress reports.
• Orient and train team members and/or clinical staff on project tasks.
• If assigned to a clinical trial, work with monitors at clinical sites.
• Adhere to compliance, privacy/confidentiality requirements, and GCP regulations for clinical trials.
• Review own work to ensure data quality.
• Acquire and maintain knowledge of KP systems and databases.
• Identify study issues and collaborate with team members to develop solutions.
• Serve as a member on department or study-related committees.
• May assist with tracking information for invoices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Spanish level I required.
• Ability to identify and solve problems.
• Team-focused, detail-oriented, and goal-driven with professional oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with interviewing (by phone and/or in-person) and medical chart review.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in public health, healthcare administration, epidemiology, or a healthcare-related field.
• Proficiency in additional languages relevant to study populations (e.g., Spanish, Tagalog).
• Experience working with, or demonstrated familiarity with, the communities served by the studies.

Location & Schedule

Primary location: Pasadena, California. Full-time, standard schedule with working hours from 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Worker location must align with Kaiser Permanente's Authorized States policy. Travel required: 5% of the time. Work setting: Flexible.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $26.82 - $34.69 per hour. Actual base pay will be determined based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate’s relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
