Research Associate I - MRBD

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the execution of approved animal use protocols to evaluate bacterial challenge doses, enteric vaccines, and anti-diarrheal prophylactics.
  • Performs immunological techniques, including but not limited to ELISA, flow cytometry, and cell culture.
  • Performs laboratory research projects, including collection and organization of data, and maintaining databases.
  • Captures detailed observations on experiments.
  • Maintains compliance with established laboratory safety, policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to technical reports, publications, and presentations for internal and external collaborators.
  • Follows instructions and standard operating procedures to perform expected tasks.
  • May provide basic instruction to other lab staff.
  • Safeguards proper disposal of infectious and hazardous materials.
  • Organizes, conducts quality control, performs scientific reviews, and conducts basic statistical analyses using common laboratory software.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Biology, Immunology or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years’ experience required.
  • Previous experience with and willingness to work with small animal models.
  • Prior experience with small animal handling, accurate administration of agents, sample collection, and animal monitoring.
  • Experience with standard laboratory techniques, including immunological assays and bacterial culture techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication and analytical skills.

Work Environment

This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.
