About the role
A highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate is needed to support the operations of a Flow Cytometry Core laboratory within a research organization. This role assists with daily laboratory operations, ensures instrument readiness, supports laboratory users, and maintains a well-organized and efficient research environment. While previous flow cytometry experience is preferred, comprehensive training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine instrument calibration, quality control, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of flow cytometry instruments.
- Partner with service engineers and vendors to coordinate instrument repairs and maintenance activities.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly instrument cleaning and quality control procedures.
- Support laboratory operations through inventory management, reagent procurement, stocking, and general laboratory organization.
- Assist with instrument scheduling, appointment coordination, and user support.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, quality control records, and laboratory procedures.
- Communicate effectively with scientists, laboratory personnel, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Follow laboratory safety guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality requirements.
- Contribute to a collaborative and customer-focused laboratory environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related scientific field.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and standard computer applications.
- Ability to quickly learn new software, instrumentation, and laboratory technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a research laboratory, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or flow cytometry core facility environment.
- Familiarity with flow cytometry instrumentation and laboratory operations.
- Working knowledge of cell biology, immunology, or cell-based assays.
- Experience troubleshooting scientific equipment and applying established protocols to resolve technical issues.
