Research Associate - I

This position is with a biotech client in Foster City, CA, that researches, develops, and commercializes antiviral drugs for HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and influenza, including Harvoni and Sovaldi.

About the role

Client Pharma is seeking a creative and highly motivated Research Associate to join their growing automation/flow cytometry team. In this hands-on role, you will contribute to the company's pipeline of next-generation cell therapies by supporting the automation and flow cytometry core functions.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and optimize automation assays to enable robust and efficient high-quality data generation for high-throughput cell-based assays
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to automation systems (e.g., liquid handlers like Bravo, Assist Plus, Mantis) and flow cytometry instrumentation
• Perform daily QC, maintenance, and troubleshooting of flow cytometry instruments
• Perform aseptic cell culture of adherent and suspension cell lines
• Conduct aseptic cell culture techniques for adherent and suspension cell lines
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver key project milestones
• Manage laboratory and cell line inventory, equipment, and relevant software (Benchling, MS Office)
• Present findings effectively in team meetings

Requirements

• B.S. degree with 6 months to 1 year of experience, or M.S. degree with 0 years of experience in a biology-related field, molecular biology, immunology, or cell biology

Skills

• Basic understanding of automated liquid handling systems
• Basic knowledge of flow cytometry principles and applications
• Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture (suspension and adherent)
• Self-motivated, organized, and strong team collaboration skills
• Ownership mindset and eagerness to take on additional responsibilities

Duration: 12 months (temporary assignment, onsite in Foster City, CA).
