About the role

Biolinq is a venture-backed digital health company developing a wearable biosensor platform that measures biomarkers important to the management of many clinical conditions including diabetes. This dynamic role is a part of a team of engineers and scientists developing a novel intradermal biosensor technology and the associated software data extraction and rendering SDK that will transform the way people manage their metabolic health. Biolinq is seeking a highly motivated, energetic team-player to be a research associate with the drive to deliver results in a fast-paced innovative space. The candidate will join a close-knit and dynamic team working on the leading edge of wearable biosensor science.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designing and synthesizing novel electrochemical biosensor architectures to validate scientific hypotheses
  • Maintenance of laboratory safety practices and areas such as cleaning or repairing laboratory equipment
  • Preparing chemicals, reagents, buffers, and solutions to support laboratory activities
  • Cataloging and ordering raw materials or required laboratory goods which may include communication with suppliers for custom reagents or laboratory fixtures
  • Executing automated electrochemical experiments, performing calibrations, and documenting results while following stringent quality-control measures designed to improve test-to-test consistency
  • Analyzing large datasets to comparatively assess biosensor performance in vitro and in vivo
  • Presenting frequent briefings to the team about the motivation, procedure, and results of recent experiments
  • Implementing statistical methods aimed at understanding significance of results obtained
  • Interfacing closely with engineering to effectively integrate mechanical / electrical systems with biosensors
  • Interfacing closely with R&D to translate early designs to broad-scope development programs
  • Other responsibilities, as required, to fulfill streamlined operations in the laboratory

Requirements

  • B.S. degree or higher in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, or related fields
  • Requires 2-4+ years of experience with B.S. or 0-2+ years of experience with M.S., along with a track record of excellence in performing technical duties in a scientific, bio-/chemical, or life sciences laboratory
  • Strong working knowledge of electrochemistry and electrochemical techniques

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity or previous research in enzyme-based biosensor, polymer chemistry, and/or surface chemistry development
  • Familiarity with programming languages and statistical tools such as Python and JMP
  • Excellent critical thinker; able to solve complex system-level challenges independently
  • Highly methodical, organized, and detail oriented. Able to follow close adherence to sensor synthesis and evaluation protocols with the mindset to quickly adopt new experimental protocols
  • Independent, self-motivated individual who holds the highest scientific standards coupled with the ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment and independently with minimal guidance
  • Experience with operating in a regulated environment (i.e. design controls per 21 CFR 820.30)
