Research Associate, Expansion Microscopy Engineering
About the role
This is an engineering‑oriented science role focused on optimizing, validating, and applying the whole expansion microscopy pipeline—fixation, anchoring, gelation, softening, staining, imaging, and quality control. The job requires careful thinking about which parameters matter and why, meticulous execution, sharp observation of results, and using those observations to infer upstream chemical steps and adjust parameters to improve sample quality and throughput. You will report to the Head of Scalable Chemistry and collaborate with the Scalable Chemistry team, using logic and evidence to advance work and boost overall performance. The position is suited for someone who wants to expand what expansion microscopy can do in brain tissue while also running established protocols.
Given the multidisciplinary nature of the work, the ideal candidate enjoys problem solving across chemistry, biology, and imaging at both conceptual and hands‑on levels, and values systematic documentation, analysis, and iterative problem solving to develop, apply, and share working protocols. The role is in‑person, with flexible hours occasionally
