Research Assistant/Sr. Research Assistant
About the role
The Economic Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia seeks research assistants (RAs) to contribute to long-term, academically-oriented research projects, reports, and publications. The program is structured as a two-year commitment, with most RAs continuing to graduate school or other careers in economics or related fields.
Responsibilities
- Assist economists with statistical and econometric analysis for long-term research projects
- Help economists prepare briefings on current monetary policy issues
- Write computer programs using statistical software such as SAS, Stata, R, Python, and Matlab
- Identify and collect data from academic journals, market sources, and government reports
- Review, organize, and analyze economic and financial data
- Write or help prepare reports and presentations in the form of graphs or tables
Requirements
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in economics, mathematics, or statistics
- Coursework in econometrics or advanced statistics, preferred
- Programming experience, preferably in SAS, STATA, R, Python, and Matlab
