Research Assistant-Psychology

Temple University's College of Liberal Arts Psychology Department is seeking a Research Assistant to support a multi-site study under the supervision of Dr. Ellman and senior staff.

About the Role

This position involves collecting and managing data to identify biomarkers and predictors of clinical and behavioral outcomes in individuals at risk for psychosis and psychiatric comparison groups. Responsibilities include administering semi-structured clinical interviews, cognitive tasks, and collecting biosamples such as EEG data, MRI data, and processing blood samples (e.g., centrifuging and storing). The role also supports an active clinical trial and assists with daily lab operations, including participant recruitment, data management, and supervising undergraduate volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Collect and manage data for a multi-site study on psychosis risk and psychiatric comparison groups.
• Administer semi-structured clinical interviews and cognitive tasks.
• Assist in the collection of biosamples, including EEG and MRI data, and process blood samples (e.g., centrifuging and storing).
• Support an active clinical trial and assist with daily lab operations, such as recruiting participants and managing data.
• Supervise and train undergraduate volunteers.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or a related field.
• At least six (6) months of directly related work experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
• Experience working or volunteering with individuals with mental disorders and/or similar vulnerable populations.
• Experience with data management.
• Ability to use one of the following programs or something comparable: SAS, SPSS, R, Qualtrics, RedCap, Python, and/or STATA.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends.
• Excellent organization and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MRI, EEG, or psychophysiological assessments.
• Experience working with clinical populations (e.g., clinical interviewing).

Pay

Hourly rate range: $15.38 - $19.24. Salary is determined by HR based on job duties, education, experience, internal equity, department budget, and funding source.
