About the department
The Department of Molecular Genetics and Cell biology investigates molecular aspects of biological phenomena at the cellular scale. Faculty research uses advanced microscopy, genetic analysis, and molecular characterization to study temporal and spatial mechanisms underlying cell functions and organism development. The department engages in traditional and emerging model organisms.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic laboratory techniques under direction
- Collect and enter data in support of research projects
- Assist in data analysis and report preparation
- Comply with institutional, state, and federal regulations
- Perform other related duties as needed
Requirements
- Vocational training, apprenticeships, or equivalent experience in related field (not typically required)
- Knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Math, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior research experience
Working Conditions
- Basic research level, Biosafety Level 1 facility
- Evening and weekend hours as needed
