Research Assistant II - Experimental Hematology & Cancer Biology - Reynaud Lab

About the Role

The Research Assistant will play a key role in supporting laboratory operations, ensuring regulatory and biosafety compliance, managing mouse colonies, and contributing directly to innovative research projects in a collaborative and discovery-driven environment. The position is within the Reynaud Lab within the Division of Experimental Hematology & Cancer Biology at Cincinnati Children's, where research focuses on how chronic metabolic conditions such as obesity and diabetes influence hematopoietic stem cell function and contribute to blood disorders and leukemia.

Responsibilities

• Perform experiments and record data following research protocol; maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments
• Analyze data; perform statistical and graphical analysis of data
• Design and execute daily laboratory experiments in coordination with senior laboratory personnel
• Reproduce and evaluate techniques and results for accuracy
• Apply standard protocols to specific experiments, research and improve current methods, and evaluate innovative techniques
• Assist in training students and new/junior laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and equipment operation
• Maintain and manage strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders; respond to requests quickly and effectively
• Identify and understand customer needs and expectations and meet them; communicate relevant information to clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders
• Troubleshoot and correct erroneous results or problems with laboratory equipment
• Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment
• Maintain cell cultures
• Operate and maintain standard laboratory equipment appropriately
• Assist in daily operations of the laboratory including answering phone, maintaining lab supplies, organization, and cleanliness
• Provide appropriate safety monitoring checks as assigned (radiation safety, biosafety, etc.)
• Demonstrate competence in specific knowledge, skills and behaviors; effectively communicate with team members and contribute to their growth by sharing knowledge, experience, and skills
• Stay abreast of changes in key systems; serve as a resource to the department in specific area(s)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, AND 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a related field

Pay

Expected starting pay range: $20.57 - $25.72 per hour. Starting pay is based on experience, skills, and equity; exceptions may apply for highly qualified candidates. Additional pay (e.g., shift, on-call, or weekend differentials) may apply. Annual pay may vary based on FTE status.

Schedule

Full time, 40 hours per week, day shift.
