Research Assistant II-Chatila Lab

Join the Chatila Lab in the Division of Immunology at Boston Children’s Hospital and work with a team of post-doctoral researchers and the PI to decipher fundamental and genetic pathways that regulate immune tolerance, and how perturbations in these pathways result in human allergic and autoimmune diseases.

Responsibilities

• Design and perform routine laboratory experiments and procedures, including:
  • Processing human blood samples
  • Tissue culturing of human and mouse immune cells
  • Handling and genotyping mice
  • Tissue dissection
  • Immunoblotting and flow cytometric studies
• Analyze and interpret experimental results.
• Assist in troubleshooting procedures and conduct literature searches, compiling information for journals and suggesting uses for new techniques to the PI.
• Meet with PI and postdocs to discuss projects and participate in lab meetings and presentations.
• Attend courses, lectures, and conferences to further knowledge of research and laboratory techniques.
• Perform laboratory techniques required for the study, including:
  • Maintaining records of results and methodologies
  • Keeping equipment, lab area, and supplies organized
  • Sterilizing glassware and preparing media and reagents
  • Inventorying supplies and alerting supervisor to needs
  • Processing orders for supplies and/or animals
• Attend safety courses for handling, storage, and disposal of biohazardous, flammable, corrosive, and toxic materials.
• Carry out all laboratory activities in compliance with applicable regulations and protocols.
• Assist in general lab operations and upkeep.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, genetics, molecular biology, or a related field.
• One year of related experience.
• Experience with molecular biology techniques and cell culture preferred (e.g., PCR, qPCR, Western Blot, cell culture, FACS, microscopy).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a research environment.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Pay

The posted pay range reflects Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this role at the time of posting. Base pay offers depend on skills, experience, education, certifications, and other job-related factors.
