The Harvard Clinical and Translational Science Center houses a large research study (“The Football Players Health Study at Harvard University”) initiated in 2014 to evaluate and improve the health and wellbeing of former professional football players. Funded by the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), this is one of the largest sports research projects ever undertaken. The Study researches medical conditions affecting the quality and longevity of life of football players and works to identify and prioritize promising new approaches to prevent, diagnose, and treat those conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Support staff in day-to-day clinical research activities, including the Playing, Living, Aging, and You: In-Person Assessments (PLAY-IPA) Study, the Health Biodata Initiative, and the PRESS Study.
  • Support participant recruitment, screening, and tracking, including player outreach, eligibility screening, sample collection distribution, and supplies inventory.
  • Assist staff in the development and execution of recruitment plans, screening interviews, data intake forms, and coordination of study-related events.
  • Support the execution of one or more research studies from study start-up through execution to completion.
  • Perform administrative tasks including scheduling meetings, booking conference rooms, and stakeholder follow-up.
  • Track and maintain the status of active protocols, study forms, training documentation, and additional research support materials.
  • Assist with data review for quality and completeness.
  • Support the preparation of reports, presentations, tracking documents, and other materials for internal and external purposes.
  • Perform necessary literature reviews and obtain background materials pertinent to research areas.
  • Demonstrate and maintain compliance with research policies ICH-GCP and federal regulations.
  • Assist Project Managers as needed and contribute to the Program’s goals by accomplishing related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • College background or equivalent work experience, preferably in a related discipline.
  • At least one year of related work experience (relevant coursework may count toward experience).
  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a research environment a plus.
  • Interest in data analysis a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

Schedule

35 hours per week | Monday - Friday | 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Additional Information

  • This is a term position from the date of hire with an end date of June 30, 2027, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding.
  • Harvard University is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
  • This position has been determined to allow for hybrid work, with the work schedule and location set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts.
