Research Assistant I, Internal Medicine

Specific Duties

  • Perform more advanced experiments in science areas, including molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, chemistry, and other related fields
  • Maintain and organize mouse colonies and perform mouse experiments per lab protocol
  • Record scientific data obtained from assigned experiments in an organized lab notebook and review with supervisor
  • Read literature and confer with supervisor for new procedure implementations
  • Work with supervisor and other lab members for preparing scientific publications
  • Support lab operations through various activities, including ordering reagents, maintaining laboratory areas, and lab equipment maintenance
  • May plan for, and provide working supervision to, work of Research Technicians or other laboratory personnel of lower grade
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Prior basic science research experience and mouse work is strongly preferred
  • Education: Master's Degree with major coursework in field of assignment or Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in field of assignment or Completion of 2 years of college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment or High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience: 1 year Research experience at level of Research Technician or equivalent with Bachelor's degree or 4 years Research experience including two years at level of Research Technician or equivalent with 2 years of college or 6 years Research experience with High School Diploma or GED equivalent including 2 years at level of Research Technician or equivalent
