RESEARCH ASSISTANT I- Chanda Lab - Immunology (temporary position)
for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). Use - for any list of duties/requirements/benefits, and
for prose. Do NOT repeat the job title as a heading (the page already shows it) and do NOT put Job ID / requisition numbers as headings — fold minor metadata into a short
or drop it. Preserve ALL substantive information; do NOT invent or summarize away detail. Remove cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate, duplicated lines, and application instructions. IMPORTANT: include a section ONLY when the posting has real, specific content for it — never emit a heading followed by filler/placeholder text (e.g. "commensurate with experience", "not specified", "N/A", "varies", "TBD") and never create Pay/Schedule/Benefits sections unless the posting actually states them. Prefer a few substantive sections over many thin ones. Output ONLY the HTML fragment — no /, no markdown code fences.
We need to parse the job posting.
Content:
- About Us: description of Scripps Research. This is substantive. Should we include as a section? The allowed headings include "About the role". Not "About Us". But we could maybe treat as "About the role"? However the instruction says use
for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). It says e.g., not limited to those. So we could use "About Us" as heading? The examples are just examples; we can use other headings if appropriate. But they say "Use for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule)." So we can use those headings; we can also use other headings if needed. However they say "Prefer a few substantive sections over many thin ones." So maybe we combine About Us into a brief paragraph before sections? The instruction: "Do NOT repeat the job title as a heading (the page already shows it)". So we can have a heading for About Us? Not sure. The posting includes "About Us" at top. We could treat that as a section heading About Us
with paragraph. That seems reasonable.
Then we have Position Summary: "The Chanda Lab is seeking a highly motivated individual to support new technology development. The work will facilitate anti-tumor and auto-immune drug discovery targeting novel biological functions. Under this role, the ideal candidate will work in a team environment to support the execution of key high-throughput assays, construct critical molecular toolkits, develop and validate new in vitro assays."
That's prose; could be under "About the role" or "Position Summary". We could use About the role
and put that paragraph.
Then Responsibilities And Duties: list: Molecular cloning. Human primary cell and cell line culture, preparation of media and reagents. Lentivirus production. Execute high-throughput assays against for screening campaigns. Data analysis and lab notebook documentation. The position requires great attention to detail, dexterity of the hands, troubleshooting capability and flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
We need to output as - for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. So we need to split each duty into list items. The list items: Molecular cloning; Human primary cell and cell line culture, preparation of media and reagents; Lentivirus production; Execute high-throughput assays against for screening campaigns; Data analysis and lab notebook documentation. Also the sentence about attention to detail etc is more of a requirement; could be part of Requirements or maybe also a duty? It says "The position requires great attention to detail, dexterity of the hands, troubleshooting capability and flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced environment." That's a requirement/skill. We'll treat as part of Requirements or Skills.
Then Requirements: list: Bachelor of Science in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or related field. 1-3 years of related experience required. Experience in working with mammalian cells is required. Experience with molecular cloning is preferred. Experience with database interface and data analysis using Excel and Prism is preferred. Experience with automated liquid handling instruments is a plus. Experience with gene expression analysis (RT-qPCR, NGS, etc.) is a plus. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Letter of recommendation and/or at least one professional reference is required.
We need to separate required vs preferred? Not required but we can list all as items. Could also separate into Required and Preferred subheadings but that would be many thin sections; maybe just list all as items.
Additional Information: This is a temporary position anticipated for 6 months. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Physical Requirements: This position works in a laboratory environment. Details of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.
We need to decide if we include a section for Additional Information? Not in the list of headings but we could include as a paragraph under maybe "Details". However we should avoid filler. The content is substantive: temporary 6 months, no visa sponsorship, lab environment. Could be placed under a heading like "Position Details". But the instruction says prefer few substantive sections over many thin ones. We could incorporate this info into a
after Responsibilities or Requirements.
Compensation: "COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $20.67 to $25.06 per hour, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements."
We have Pay info. According to instruction: never create Pay/Schedule/Benefits sections unless the posting actually states them. It does state compensation, so we can include a Pay section. However we must avoid filler like "commensurate with experience" which is placeholder? They said never emit a heading followed by filler/placeholder text (e.g. "commensurate with experience", "not specified", "N/A", "varies", "TBD") and never create Pay/Schedule/Benefits sections unless the posting actually states them. The posting states compensation range, but includes "commensurate with experience". That is filler? It's part of the sentence. The instruction says never emit a heading followed by filler/placeholder text. It doesn't say we cannot include that phrase inside the paragraph; just that we shouldn't have a heading with only filler text. So we can have a Pay section with paragraph containing the range and note.
Benefits: "Comprehensive Benefits Include Employer Contributed Retirement Plan – Depending on eligibility, employees receive an employer contributed retirement plan (no employee contribution required) and the option to contribute to a 403(b) (which is similar to a 401(k) using your own pre or post-tax dollars)Full Suite of Health and Welfare plans including three medical plan options (including an HSA available option), dental, vision, life insurance, disability, EAP and moreAccess to Flexible Spending Accounts (Medical/Dependent Care)Competitive vacation and sick leave policiesFree, on-site parking"
We need to parse that into list items. There's a run-on sentence missing spaces. We need to extract benefits: Employer Contributed Retirement Plan (no employee contribution required) and option to contribute to 403(b); Full Suite of Health and Welfare plans including three medical plan options (including an HSA available option), dental, vision, life insurance, disability, EAP and more; Access to Flexible Spending Accounts (Medical/Dependent Care); Competitive vacation and sick leave policies; Free, on-site parking.
We'll make a Benefits section with
- items.
Schedule: Not mentioned. So we should not create Schedule section.
Qualifications: Not separate; we have Requirements.
Skills: Could be separate but we have many skills in Requirements; we could combine.
We need to avoid duplication. Also remove EEO statement, legal boilerplate, etc.
We need to preserve all substantive information. So we need to include the About Us paragraph, Position Summary paragraph, Responsibilities list, Requirements list, Additional Information (temp 6 months, no visa sponsorship, lab environment), Pay paragraph, Benefits list.
We need to decide headings: About Us, About the role (or Position Summary), Responsibilities, Requirements, Additional Information (maybe Position Details), Pay, Benefits.
We must not create headings with filler text. All headings have substantive content.
We need to output only HTML fragment.
