Research Assistant I - BSOS
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory research activities including sample processing, assay execution, and data collection.
- Conduct molecular and biochemical techniques such as Western blotting, RT PCR, ELISA, and immunohistochemistry.
- Maintain accurate experimental records, data logs, and inventories in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices.
- Perform data entry in a timely and accurate manner and assist with basic data organization and analysis.
- Prepare reagents, buffers, and laboratory materials according to established protocols.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, equipment organization, and supply inventory.
- Create and communicate detailed experimental observations to senior staff.
- Assist with preparation of technical reports, summaries, figures, and protocol documentation.
- Support coordination of sample tracking between animal studies and laboratory analyses.
- Participate in required training and safety programs related to laboratory research.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree, Minimum of 0-2 years' experience required.
- Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: Knowledge of standard laboratory techniques and workflows. Experience with molecular biology or immunological assays is preferred. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures. Good communication and analytical skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and data entry. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team. Experience with the following lab equipment: Orobos O2k, Western blot, JESS.
Physical Capabilities
- Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to stand or sit at a computer or laboratory bench for prolonged periods.
Work Environment
This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting. Telework may be offered on an ad hoc basis when feasible and approved.
Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $19.33-$23.00. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
