About the role

This position will work under the supervision of the ASF Scientific Director and senior staff on PCL “Node Operation” to perform routine maintenance on all-node related infrastructure. The role involves assisting the Director and staff in working with Node Users on their research goals, as well as managing and replenishing Node inventory. This project is part of a new national network of AI-programmable cloud laboratories aligned with the U.S. government's Genesis Mission.

Responsibilities

  • Work under general supervision, with assistance provided for unusual problems and review for sound professional judgment.
  • Independently conduct a wide variety of standard laboratory techniques and procedures, adapting methods as needed.
  • Receive instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.
  • Provide interpretation and initial analyses of results.
  • Troubleshoot and modify procedures as required.
  • Assist in designing experiments to complete segments of the overall research plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a relevant scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience; organic chemistry experience preferred.
  • Candidates with a Master’s degree require 0–2 years of experience.

Physical Requirements

This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment.

Pay

The expected hiring range for this position is $20.67 to $24.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
