Research Assistant (Health Policy and Management)

About the role

The Research Assistant supports data collection, organization, and management for research studies under the guidance of principal investigators or research teams. They also contribute to conference coordination, research activities, data analysis, and dissemination efforts for an interdisciplinary public health research initiative.

Responsibilities

• Run routine and ad hoc reports
• Use standard tools and computer programs to review data
• Aid in data cleaning measures to ensure accuracy of data and prepare tables
• Lead basic activities such as data collection and data entry
• May lead specific tasks and develop processes to ensure study activities occur effectively and efficiently
• Conduct literature searches to support faculty in research efforts
• Design and format papers/publications
• Assist PIs in writing summaries of papers for release as policy briefs or other channels
• Conduct data management and statistical analyses using R and RStudio
• Aid in data cleaning and visualization
• Support report writing and manuscript preparation for peer-reviewed publications
• Develop presentation materials and maintain conference-related webpages and digital dissemination materials, including website updates, online content management, and coordination of social media and outreach activities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field
• Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with R and RStudio for statistical analysis
• Strong writing and editing skills for academic manuscripts and reports
• Familiarity with website development platforms
• Experience coordinating meetings, conferences, or community engagement activities
• Interest in public health, health policy, healthcare systems, or community-based research
• Strong organizational and communication skills
