Job Summary

Bucknell University seeks a part time Research Assistant in the Biomedical Engineering Lab. The person in this role serves as an assistant in the process of research. They will work in the lab to analyze samples and perform experiments. They will assist with writing, development, and editing of protocols; maintain lab facilities and ongoing operation of the lab, and collaborate with Facilities personnel, fellow Lab Coordinators, faculty and students.

What You Will Do

  • Assists with the execution of research experiments and projects by performing routine technical procedures, preparing necessary materials, and following established protocols to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Maintains research spaces by procurement of materials and monitoring lab inventory.
  • Maintains detailed and accurate records of all research activities, including data entry and preliminary results, while ensuring documentation complies with institutional and project-specific standards.
  • Performs maintenance and calibration of the instruments and equipment, troubleshooting problems as they arise.
  • Collaborates with vendors and/or campus colleagues as needed, to arrange for service or repair.
  • Keeps laboratories stocked with necessary supplies including gloves, wipes, safety glasses, and other proper PPE such as lab coats and safety shields. Ensures needed equipment or instruments are available, working and in place for use, and that utensils, glassware, machines are available.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geoscience or closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree

Salary Range

$17.16 - $21.45 per hour
