About the role
The Research Assistant in the College of Science & Technology's Biology division is responsible for research projects advancing the understanding of how X chromosome genes affect age-related cognitive decline.
Responsibilities
- Manages the mouse colony including breeding and genotyping transgenic lines.
- Comply with laboratory safety/infection control policies and procedures.
- Assists in the daily use and maintenance of specialized equipment in the laboratory including spectrophotometers, incubators, FACS machines, cell culture equipment, micro-injection apparatuses, regular and confocal microscopes, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to occasionally work on weekends and/or after hours.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in biology and six months of related research experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills

- Ability to effectively interact with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff.
- Ability to learn new research techniques.
- Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot experiments, and communicate in writing as well as verbally.
