Research Assistant

Elmhurst Hospital Center (EHC) is the major tertiary care provider in the borough of Queens. The hospital is comprised of 545 beds and is a Level I Trauma Center, an Emergency Heart Care Station, and a 911 Receiving Hospital. It is the premiere health care organization for key areas such as Surgery, Cardiology, Women's Health, Pediatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine, Renal, and Mental Health Services.

Responsibilities

• Performs research activities by collecting information and data of current and historical nature for use in the preparation of booklets, pamphlets, articles, reports, and speeches.
• Obtains pertinent source material by means of library research, examination of records, books or other publications, and personal interviews.
• Prepares written reports.
• Maintains clipping file and card index of factual and statistical information for departmental use.
• Handles telephone and correspondence requests for information requiring research.
• May also be in charge of a small departmental library.
• Performs administrative duties required to assure efficient library service.
• In the Department of Rent and Housing Maintenance, conducts rental value studies of moderate complexity and assists in research studies and surveys.
