Research Assistant/Analyst

Job Summary

Our research team is hiring a part‑time Research Assistant/Analyst to support the development, delivery, and evaluation of a school‑based skin cancer prevention study, titled REACH West, led by Dr. Yelena Wu. The role involves recruiting participants, preparing study materials, conducting interviews and study visits, and creating reports of study activities and outcomes, which include data cleaning and basic descriptive statistics. Secondary responsibilities may include assistance on related projects. Huntsman Cancer Institute is committed to cancer prevention, care, and survivorship for all communities it serves.

Responsibilities

• Establish trusting and collaborative relationships with teachers, school staff, and families participating in research studies.
• Prepare materials and staff for school visits.
• Utilize a structured protocol for skin cancer prevention studies and collect survey data.
• Document activities and outcomes in appropriate databases.
• Compile reports summarizing study progress.
• Attend team meetings to discuss progress, successes, and challenges.
• Participate in ongoing training to maintain fidelity to protocols and other research‑required training.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a social or behavioral science, liberal arts, or a field related to the area of research, or equivalency (one year of education can substitute for two years of related work experience).
• At least one year of experience in research and analytical techniques.
• Demonstrated statistical and quantitative analysis experience.
• Strong human relations and effective communication skills.
• Patient‑sensitive status with required immunizations per CDC standards and hospital policy (exemptions possible for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs).

Pay

Pay rate range: $12.02 to $21.63 per hour.
