Research Area Specialist Lead

About the Role

The McCoy lab combines wet bench research, clinical trials, and a specialized clinic structure to support a comprehensive Sjogren's disease program. The successful applicant will be part of the McCoy lab led by Dr. Sara McCoy and focuses on bench-to-bedside translation of findings to improve the lives of Sjogren's patients. The candidate will lead and manage patient triage into the clinical program, coordinate complex care, and provide comprehensive after-visit summaries collating all subspecialty findings and recommendations. This role is central to integrating clinical care with bench work and translational treatment. The candidate will also manage clinical research studies, including recruitment, screening, eligibility determination, and enrollment, while ensuring protocol adherence. Additionally, they will coordinate and oversee clinical annotation of biobank samples.

Responsibilities

• Triage complex clinical patients to appropriate clinics and subspecialists.
• Identify trial candidates, screen, select, and determine eligibility.
• Collect complex information and answer questions under the supervision of a medically licensed professional.
• Manage research workflow components, including collecting, preparing, processing, and submitting participant data to appropriate entities.
• Serve as the main point of contact for Sjogren's care coordination as it relates to clinical programs, research, and recruitment.
• Perform quality checks on data.
• Identify resource needs and develop clinical research documents, such as job aids, tools, processes, procedures, and training.
• Contribute to protocol development.
• Assist with training staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning directly related to the duties of the position.
• 6+ years of experience in a related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

• 25+ years of clinical care experience (nursing preferred).
• Experience with studying mesenchymal stromal cells.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, REDCap, and Epic.
• Interest in autoimmune disease research, academic medicine, or health-related careers.
