About the role

The Hunt Library at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) invites applications for a Research and Instruction Librarian serving a diverse population of residential and online students. This position is part of the Research and Instruction Services Department and focuses on research consultations, instruction, information literacy development, and faculty partnerships through liaison relationships.

The successful candidate will join a forward-thinking, technologically advanced library on the Ex Libris ALMA ILS, offering a robust range of electronic collections and integrated library software. Duties include providing reference services in-person, virtually, and electronically; developing online learning objects; delivering synchronous and asynchronous library instruction; and participating in team-based and cross-departmental projects. No aviation or aerospace background is required.

This professional staff position reports to the Associate Director for Research and Instruction Services and involves regular business hours, including nights and weekends. The role supports both the Daytona Beach campus and the Worldwide Campus of online students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide reference and research assistance in-person, virtually, and electronically.
  • Develop and deliver library instruction in synchronous and asynchronous formats.
  • Create online learning objects and instructional modules.
  • Engage in liaison relationships with faculty to support information literacy and research skills.
  • Collaborate on team-based and cross-departmental projects, including collection management and library initiatives.
  • Participate in special projects and assignments to enhance library services.

Requirements

  • ALA-accredited master’s degree in library science or information studies.
  • Library reference and research assistance experience, or a strong interest in research librarianship.
  • Library instruction experience and/or an interest in developing pedagogical skills.
  • Ability to learn new technology tools and remain current with emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and colleagues.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including experience in virtual environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic library experience.
  • Instruction or training experience, including presenting to small and large groups.
  • Proficiency in database searching and knowledge of library systems.
  • Experience developing online learning objects or modules.
  • Experience training, supervising, or mentoring student assistants.
  • Experience developing, providing, or assisting with events.
  • Proficiency with learning management software such as Canvas.
