Research and Development (R&D) Test Engineer

About the role

Silvus is seeking a Research and Development (R&D) Test Engineer to join the R&D team. This position will develop testing infrastructure and perform comprehensive testing, vetting, and demonstration of Silvus' MANET radios and other wireless products and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Wireless communication system test operation, implementation, and maintenance.
• Aid in the maintenance, design, and implementation of testing software for automated testing and logging.
• Work closely with the R&D and Engineering teams to understand performance requirements and expected system behaviors, validate, and assist in troubleshooting and qualification of new designs.
• Conduct lab testing using wireless channel emulators and other instruments.
• Conduct field testing to qualify system performance in a practical environment.
• Perform other related duties, of which the above are representative.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience, specifically in embedded firmware development and testing, scripting, embedded Linux, C/C++, and python; OR a minimum of 1 year of relevant industry experience including embedded firmware development and testing, scripting, embedded Linux, C/C++, and python with an advanced degree.
• Demonstrated experience in wireless/networking or an electronics manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience with lab instruments such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.

Qualifications

• All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug test.

Skills

• Proven experience in programming using C/C++, Python, or MATLAB.
• Exposure to networked testing systems.
• Experience in testing embedded radio communication systems.
• General understanding of working in both Windows and Linux operations.

Benefits

• $85,000 - $130,000 / annually
