Research Analyst - NBCU Local

About the role
This is an opportunity to learn and grow in an exciting, evolving media research environment. The role involves analyzing viewership data to deliver insights that drive audience and business development for NBCUniversal’s Local Media division.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain station sales inventory and estimates based on Nielsen and comScore ratings for all properties, including NBC, Telemundo, NBC Sports Regional Networks, COZI, and TeleXitos.
- Implement ratings for new programming, sports, and specials across all markets.
- Support over 200 sellers with 40-50 ad hoc sales requests per week, analyzing and interpreting audience data across the NBCU Owned Television Stations division to support our sales organization (NBC, Telemundo, RSN, COZI, and TELX) and digital properties.
- Conduct analysis to understand the consumer and establish competitive advantages.
- Support over 30 local stations by providing backup for market research leads when needed.
- Provide insights into emerging industry measurements across NBCU Local properties’ various platforms.
- Aid in the development of future sales systems involving Nielsen and Comscore and help supply a more efficient workflow.
- Manage the implementation of new data and their impact on our inventory system.
- Handle roadblocks of the inventory system and develop solutions.
- Collaborate with our Sales Operation team regarding inventory system testing for new and improved features.
- Support Sales teams in the development of insights and presentations to engage advertisers and their agencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Significant interest in research, advertising, or media.
- Understanding of the television industry in relation to ratings and sales.
- Basic knowledge of Nielsen and comScore data and its role in the industry.
- Efficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, macros, advanced formatting).
- Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
Schedule
Hybrid: This position requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
Qualifications
- Able to learn new software quickly and solve problems independently.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to work under pressure, handle multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team, with management, and with sales staff.
- Experience with creating and supporting station sales estimates (in systems such as Donovan/MediaOcean, Wide Orbit Media Sales, MediaLine, or Strata).
- Exceptional writing and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with Nielsen ratings, including applicable software such as Nielsen Local TV View, Nielsen National TV View, NPower, and other syndicated media research sources like Scarborough, Simmons, POLK Automotive, and Kantar.
- Effective analytical skills, able to analyze qualitative and quantitative data with client needs in mind.
- Interest in television and media with the desire to develop skills for further growth.

Pay
Salary range: $65,000–80,000.
