About the role
As an Operations Research Analyst, you will make assessments by reviewing and evaluating information to draw conclusions, ensure compliance, and identify trends. You’ll collaborate with multiple stakeholders to achieve optimal results, focusing on record keeping, report generation, and gathering domestic and international assignment information.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on cases prior to adjudication by gathering information from petitions, applications, supporting documents, the internet, telephone calls, government, commercial, and open-source databases.
- Evaluate data sets and interpret the relevance of gathered data, including numerical statistics, legal documents, and open-source material.
- Perform analyses to identify possible fraudulent activity related to cases.
- Ensure the integrity of record-keeping systems and the veracity of collected data before entry.
- Write clear and concise reports summarizing research findings.
- Coordinate and network with agency personnel, other government agencies, and coworkers to facilitate information sharing on cases involving fraud or potential criminal activity.
- Handle Law Enforcement Sensitive (LES) information appropriately.
- Analyze returned petitions to identify trends, errors, and areas for improvement in associated memos.
- Maintain a working knowledge of eligibility requirements and related resources.
- Make personalized phone calls to collect information and create reports based on responses.
- Evaluate cases, analyze specific questions, and communicate in an unscripted manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the unit’s mission of pre-adjudication case support.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and experience with research and/or reporting.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Experience with report preparation and document analysis to establish authenticity and evaluate against government standards.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective communications with peers and government officials.
- Proficiency in using databases to obtain and validate information.
- Ability to comprehend government regulations.
- Experience conducting telephonic interviews to obtain and/or validate petitions.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate data and interview responses to prepare concise reports.
- Ability to accept feedback and think flexibly (open-mindedness with no absolutes).
- Ability to pass a computer-based, role-specific skills test with a minimum score of 85%.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Must live within 90 miles of Portsmouth, NH, and be a U.S. citizen.
- Must successfully complete a credit and criminal background check and obtain a Secret-level federal security clearance.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, lift up to 20 lbs., bend, reach, carry, stoop, kneel, and use hands/fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls.
- Must be able to type or write using fingers and hands.
- Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
