Research AHT I

Responsibilities

• Maintain supplies, food and overall environmental conditions within the facility.
• Support daily operations of the BRU rodent facility, which operates 24/7/365.
• Perform animal husbandry, including daily cage changing, providing food and water, and behavioral observations.
• Write health reports and manage basic colony needs.
• Stock supplies, clean equipment, and perform housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and stocking PPE.
• Transport supplies, equipment, and animals as needed.
• Receive animal shipments and complete required documentation.
• Ensure areas used for technical procedures are well maintained and adequately supplied.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED.
• Able and willing to be trained to properly handle all species of animals housed within the department.
• Flexible schedule to accommodate a 7-day-per-week, 365-days-per-year operation, including weekends and holidays.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Quick decision-making, option identification, and appropriate action-taking abilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in the custodial care of animals.
• Comfortable handling small animals in an academic research setting.

Pay

Pay Range: Minimum hourly $15.25, Maximum hourly $19.60.

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after considering factors such as work history, experience, skill set, and education.
