About the role
Responsible for creating newsworthy multimedia projects. Under general supervision of the Media Manager, reports on and captures through multimedia means (video, audio, and photo) interviews, issues, events, and topics important to the Southern Ute Tribe and its membership. Produces concise, professional multimedia clips for publication through Tribal Information Services and The Southern Ute Drum. This position is a grade N11; pay starts at $25.05/hourly.
Responsibilities
- Create newsworthy multimedia projects including video, audio, and photo content
- Report on and capture interviews, issues, events, and topics relevant to the Southern Ute Tribe
- Produce concise, professional multimedia clips for publication
- Create accurate archival records
- Work flexible hours and schedules to accommodate assignments, event coverage, and publication deadlines
- Work evening hours, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed
Requirements
- Must be an enrolled Southern Ute Tribal Member
- AA degree in Fine Arts, Multimedia, or a related field OR 3 years of experience
- Experience with video capture, video production, video editing programs, and creating promotional materials
- Remote Pilot Certificate (FAA Part 107)
- Current knowledge and skill using computer software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Valid Driver’s License for state of residency and insurable under the Tribal Vehicle Insurance Policy
- Must pass a thorough background check including Criminal History and fingerprint check
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, fine arts, or related field (preferred)
- Published work as a multimedia journalist reporting on topics/events (preferred)
- Experience with Adobe Premier, Rush, Lightroom, and Photoshop (preferred)
- Experience with Macintosh/Apple computers (iMac and/or MacBook) (preferred)
- Experience with WordPress and Vimeo content management system (preferred)
- Positive experience interacting with all age groups including Tribal Elders (preferred)
- Successful experience in teaching/training, community outreach, public presentations, and event promotion (preferred)
- Advanced proficiency in computer programs such as Word, Excel, internet searching, website editing, presentation software (PowerPoint, Publisher), scanning documents, and using electronic storage and filing systems (preferred)
