Report Developer | Modernization - Workday
Washington State University's Modernization team is seeking a Report Developer to lead the design, development, and implementation of high-impact, system-wide strategic and operational reporting projects. As a key resource for all WSU units and the Modernization team, you’ll serve as the go-to expert for Workday reporting, translating complex data into actionable insights for decision-makers at every level.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement system-wide strategic and operational reporting projects.
- Serve as the primary expert for Workday reporting across WSU units.
- Analyze business needs and design effective reporting solutions.
- Ensure accurate interpretation and presentation of complex data.
- Troubleshoot and resolve critical reporting issues.
- Proactively identify new reporting opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with state and university policies.
- Translate technical details into clear, meaningful information for decision-makers.
- Maintain a customer-focused mindset to deliver data solutions that drive business success.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of professional experience OR an equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
- Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Experience interpreting and applying laws, rules, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to interact with large groups and individuals at all work levels.
- Demonstrated commitment to accessibility and opportunity in alignment with WSU’s land-grant mission.
- Proficiency in computers and software applications.
- Strong customer service orientation with flexibility in addressing issues and opposing viewpoints.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with report development (designing, coding, testing, optimizing) for complex reports.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams (e.g., Human Resources, Finance, Payroll).
- Experience with system-wide business processes in Finance, Procurement, Time and Attendance, HR, Payroll, Grants, Benefits, or Budget.
- Experience with statistical analysis and reporting on Financial, HR, Procurement, Grants, or Payroll data.
- Technical experience with Workday reporting tools (Report Writer, PRISM, Dashboards, Adaptive Planning, Discovery Boards, Office Connect).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and design user-friendly reports, dashboards, and visualizations for all audience levels.

Pay
Monthly Salary Range: $4,942.10 to $7,569.55. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
Schedule
This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent, 12-month position. Overtime eligibility will be determined by final placement in the salary range.
