The jobholder owns all intra-company material transfers for a designated distribution territory of the supply network and manages all inventory control processes at corresponding 3PL warehouses within that territory. The jobholder is the primary point of contact for all 3PL warehouses regarding inventory management, stock rotation, and disposition. In this role, the jobholder will proactively strive to provide best-in-class inventory levels, improve customer service, and reduce logistics cost.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and report on intra-company material transfers to drive optimum inventory levels versus forecast and safety stock targets at assigned locations.
  • Proactively reduce costs and improve service/inventory turns.
  • Partner with key cross-functional and third-party stakeholders to align distribution plans and inventory management activities across production, forecast, logistics, and cost.
  • Partner daily with Customer Supply Chain to inform them of material availability at the SKU/location level.
  • Responsible for SLOB (Slow Moving and Obsolete Inventory) activities: working reports, collaborating with Sales on resale of products, providing warehouse direction (dispose, sell, redistribute), SKU rationalization, and obsolete, blocked, and expired product disposition.
  • Perform inventory adjustments in SAP and 3rd-party warehouse portals (e.g., blocking/unblocking for returns, cycle count adjustments, OS&D, quality issues, and book-to-book variances).
  • Responsible for inventory receipts at 3PL warehouses: ensure receipts are correct in SAP, clear EDI errors preventing inventory movement, handle receipts of import shipments, correct batch issues, resolve variances, and communicate back to plants on quantity, quality, or product variances.
  • Oversee and provide directions to 3PL warehouses and Operations on quality issues as they pertain to inventory management, rework, and disposition.
  • Assist with projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or an equivalent functional area.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive Supply Chain experience.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in inventory planning.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain dynamics.
  • Working knowledge of Material Management systems such as SAP (MRP).
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with ERP Supply Chain Planning software.
  • Strong technical aptitude with inventory control systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of key inventory and supply chain performance metrics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs, especially Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data mining).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a desire to work with data.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive business relationships through collaboration.
  • Self-starter, self-motivated, and ability to make decisions independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize, work under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to lead cross-functionally, work in a team environment, and collaborate with internal process partners.
  • APICS or other Supply Chain/Logistics Certification encouraged but not required.
