Repair & Maintenance - Class 1 Engineer

About the role

The Class I Maintenance Engineer position at Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort is an entry-level role designed for those with a passion for service and a desire to learn multiple maintenance trades. This position is located within the Engineering Department and reports to the Director of Engineering or Engineering Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned preventive maintenance tasks on guest rooms, public areas, and resort facilities.
• Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests in a courteous and professional manner.
• Perform basic repairs including: replacing light bulbs and ballasts, repairing or replacing door hardware, unclogging drains, repairing plumbing fixtures, basic painting, and drywall patching, minor carpentry repairs.
• Assist senior engineers with electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical repairs.
• Perform routine inspections to identify maintenance concerns and report deficiencies.
• Maintain swimming pool and spa areas as assigned.
• Operate hand tools and basic power tools safely.
• Complete work orders accurately using the property's maintenance management system.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all safety procedures, OSHA standards, and Omni Hotels & Resorts policies.
• Assist with special projects, room renovations, and resort maintenance as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous maintenance, construction, landscaping, or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of general maintenance principles is a plus.
• Willingness to learn multiple maintenance trades, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Dependable with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs and ladders throughout the workday.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Safely operate hand tools, ladders, and basic maintenance equipment.

Schedule Requirements

• Must be available to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• May be required to work overtime or respond to emergency maintenance situations as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license.
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
• OSHA 10 and CPO certifications or willingness to obtain.
• EPA Section 608 certification is a plus but not required.
