About the role
Identify, evaluate, develop, and support the implementation of projects to increase sales, improve processes, and reduce costs. The senior repair development engineer will manage and lead assigned projects to completion. Projects will vary in work scope from developing a repair from OEM Technical Data to advising leadership toward major process changes such as capability improvements by equipment procurement. The senior repair development engineer will mentor other departmental engineers using industry knowledge and expertise.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret OEM Technical Data such as Inspection Repair Manuals, Drawings, MOT/MWIs, etc.
- Review, advise, and write thorough Repair Routings to ensure efficiency and feasibility; Routings include each individual operation’s instructions.
- Effectively communicate with multiple departments on technical support matters.
- Plan, manage, execute, and report on technical programs with limited supervision.
- Develop, substantiate, and qualify new processes, procedures, and equipment.
- Develop shop paperwork to allow smooth transition of projects into production.
- Design tooling and fixtures as appropriate.
- Lead and mentor Development Engineers or Associate Development Engineers.
Requirements
- B.S. Degree in Engineering (or equivalent technical and Engineering experience) and 10 years technical experience.
- Five years of experience in manufacture and/or repair of Gas Turbine Engine components.
- Experience with OEM Technical Data such as Inspection Repair Manuals, Drawings, MOT/MWIs, etc.
- Project management skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and various Engineering computer applications such as: Outlook, Excel, Word, Solidworks, 2D AutoCAD (limited proficiency), etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various special processes e.g. GTAW, E-Beam Weld, Heat Treat, Braze, Thermal Spray, EDM, Shot Peen, Balance/Spin, etc.
- Experience with review, development, substantiation, and compliance to FAA-DER Major Repair EAs/PMAs.
