Repair and Maintenance Technician

About the role

The R&M Technician role undertakes hands-on tasks and utilizes Weatherford's facilities, equipment, machinery, and systems. The role applies techniques and practices to complete the scope of tasks covering inspection, repair, and maintenance of field tools, preparing them for their next assignment. Tasks span the entire process from receiving the tools, dismantling, repairing, and refurbishing using technical manuals, procedures, and technical work instructions. More senior roles lead and oversee tasks carried out by other R&M employees.

• Operations
  • Participates in daily operations & safety meetings, toolbox talks, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and reports issues promptly.
  • Maintains equipment, facilities, and work area in a presentable and safe working condition.
  • Repairs machines, equipment, or structures using tools such as hammers, hoists, cranes, drills, wrenches, or precision measuring instruments and electronic testing devices.
  • Inspects used parts to determine dimensional requirements using rules, calipers, micrometers, or other measuring instruments.
  • Follows maintenance processes for unloading, disassembly, cleaning, pressure testing, visual checking, painting, assembly, loading, and storage of tools, completing all necessary documentation.
  • Initiates, updates, and closes out AIRTs, PFTs, forms, checklists, and work orders during maintenance.
  • Complies with the WO labor time log by accurately clocking in/out of the Work Order Time tracking system.
  • Utilizes tools and lifting equipment for opening/closing crates, moving equipment safely, and operating pallet and forklift trucks (certification required).
  • Accepts incoming shipments and prepares shipments for dispatch, validating quantities and ensuring documentation accuracy.
  • In senior roles: leads teams, troubleshoots equipment issues, implements corrective actions, and provides access to relevant documentation.
  • Ensures all field and workshop personnel follow corrective and preventative maintenance procedures, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Leads workshops, defines work schedules, and evaluates quality, proficiency, and efficiency through regular inspections.
  • Orders parts, supplies, or equipment from approved suppliers according to Weatherford’s guidelines.
  • Supports and complies with LEAN initiatives and participates in continuous efficiency improvement programs.
  • Performs other duties safely as assigned by supervisor.
• Communication
  • Reports equipment failures and troubleshooting requirements to R&M Management.
  • Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Supervisors & Managers clearly communicate expectations, roles, and responsibilities to their reports.
• Financial
  • Accountable for financial responsibility, ensuring costs are within approved budgets and processed within agreed timeframes.
• People & Development
  • Shows social orientation, working collaboratively with others.
  • Responsible for developing their own career, completing necessary training to enhance knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Engages regularly with line managers to discuss performance, objectives, and opportunities for skill enhancement.
  • Supervisors actively engage employees in talent management, including performance assessments, succession planning, and coaching.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources & Training Development to drive recruitment and retention strategies.

Requirements

• 2-4+ years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
• High School Diploma.
• Basic computer and mathematics skills.
• Experience working with hazardous materials, radioactive elements, and explosives.
• Awareness of NDT, NDE, and ATEX policies & principles.
• For senior roles: ability to diagnose issues and problems with tools/equipment.
• Skills in maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and monitoring of equipment.
• Critical thinking, active learning & listening, and complex problem-solving.
• Strong reading, writing, judgment, and decision-making skills aligned with policies & procedures.
• Time management and quality control analysis to ensure product standards.
• Ability to meet physical demands of the role.
• Information & task ordering, and ability to identify potential problems and solutions.
• Ability to react effectively and efficiently in operating tools and machinery.
• Ability to visualize tools and products during assembly, repair, or modifications.
• Travel requirement: up to 10% domestic and potentially international travel.
