Under the direction of the Branch Manager or Field Leader, the Mobile Examiner provides coverage in the field, ensuring mobile exams are completed accurately and on time. Maintains a safe and professional environment for applicants, clients, and employees, and performs all aspects of an insurance exam, including specimen collection and processing. May also act as a coach, mentor, instructor, and resource for new employees who have completed the required phlebotomy training program.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all specimens are collected accurately and on time.
  • Collects specimens according to established procedures, including basic vitals, medical histories, venipuncture, urine collection, and EKG.
  • Conducts in-center and mobile exams, as well as pre-employment drug screenings and other Quest Diagnostics services.
  • Completes application packets and other paperwork accurately.
  • Labels, centrifuges, and splits specimens as required by test order.
  • Uploads and completes cases in the portal within 24 hours on weekdays and 48 hours on weekends.
  • Packages specimens for transport and ships to the lab indicated on work orders.
  • Safely and timely transports specimens, supplies, equipment, and materials to appropriate destinations.
  • Maintains records of each specimen collected daily.
  • Supports the Record Deletion process when directed by Management.
  • Submits original paperwork to the destination.
  • Provides customer service to clients.
  • Follows the current Examiner’s Manual and complies with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Maintains all appropriate Phlebotomy logs and an error rate of no more than 3%.
  • Confirms exams with clients the day before the appointment and updates case status at the time of confirmation.
  • Corrects non-applicant errors within a 24-hour timeframe.
  • Submits accurate time and travel logs as directed by management and on time.
  • Submits accurate expense forms, if applicable, on the required day.
  • Properly clocks in and out for work assignments and provides travel logs when applicable.
  • Demonstrates organizational commitment and adheres to grooming, dress code, and lab coat policies.
  • Reports to work on time following attendance guidelines.
  • Answers the telephone in a friendly and helpful manner, incorporating company name, self-identification, and a helpful statement.
  • Communicates appropriately with customers, agents, applicants, coworkers, and the general public.
  • Ensures facilities or work areas are neat, clean, and in good repair; disposes of biohazard containers as scheduled.
  • Assists with periodic inventory counts, reports shortages, and stocks supplies as needed.
  • Works effectively with staff to ensure compliance with dress code, EHS & QA requirements, customer service requirements, and SOPs.
  • Performs other department-related clerical duties when assigned, such as answering phones and dispatch calls.
  • Participates in teams and special projects when asked.
  • Assists with the implementation of SOPs for examiner services in accordance with Quest Diagnostics guidelines.
  • Acts as a mentor and resource person for new employees, providing support for department protocols, practices, and procedures.
  • Assists with the distribution of technical information and communications to the work group.
  • Flexible travel (up to 25-mile radius) and flexible work hours; maintains availability dates in Examview.
  • Required use of company iPad or specified electronic device.

Requirements

  • Minimum 100 documented successful blood draws required.
  • Minimum one-year phlebotomy experience.
  • Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients is a plus.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record with access to dependable/insured transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Urine or hair follicle collection experience.
  • EKG experience.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Sitting for periods of time.
  • Standing while performing work.
  • Driving to and from work assignments.
  • Lifting no more than 40 pounds.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Flexible availability based on staffing requirements, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
  • May be required to work occasional on-call duties, weekends, evenings, and early mornings.

Skills

  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn new software.

Pay

$15.21 - $21.41 / hour. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market, and organizational factors.
