Rental Sales Representative - B2B / Outside Sales

About the Role

Join Penske, a leader in transportation services, as we expand our sales team. This role focuses on business development through marketing our rental product lines and growing our existing customer base via direct sales. You will also manage accounts for fleet planning and profitability. Successful candidates can advance into more complex sales positions or operational management careers.

This position is located at the Penske facility at 51 Boulden Blvd in New Castle, DE.

Responsibilities

• Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms.
• Recommend products to customers based on their needs and interests.
• Contact regular and prospective customers to demonstrate products, explain features, and solicit orders.
• Estimate or quote prices, credit or contract terms, warranties, and delivery dates.
• Consult with clients post-sale to resolve problems and provide ongoing support.
• Prepare estimates and bids tailored to specific customer needs.
• Identify prospective customers using business directories, leads from existing clients, and participation in trade shows.
• Arrange and direct delivery and installation of products and equipment.
• Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales.
• Deliver prepared sales talks and scripts to persuade potential customers.
• Contact businesses or individuals by telephone to solicit sales for goods or services.
• Explain products, services, and prices, and answer customer questions.
• Obtain customer information and enter orders into computers.
• Record names, addresses, purchases, and reactions of prospects contacted.
• Adjust sales scripts to better target specific individuals or groups.
• Obtain potential customer contact information from directories, reply cards, or purchased lists.
• Answer calls from potential customers solicited through advertisements.
• Respond to customer correspondence via telephone or written letters to follow up on initial sales contacts.
• Maintain records of contacts, accounts, and orders.
• Support location and rental customers, including rental counter activities as needed.
• Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of customer service experience.
• At least 2 years of sales experience (transportation sales preferred).
• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
• Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, deal with people, and demonstrate flexibility.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, and work at the specified location.
• Completion of Penske employment application, background investigation (including past employment, education, and criminal history), and drug screening.
