Safety
Safely transports equipment while adhering to all safety policies, procedures, and standards. Ensures a clean and organized work area. Uses required PPE as per safety policy.
Essential Functions
- Loads and unloads equipment onto trailers, ensuring proper securing according to safety requirements.
- Determines the most efficient routes based on load weight, road conditions, and traffic.
- Maintains an electronic Driver’s Logbook as required by DOT regulations.
- Operates multiple brands of equipment including CAT, Genie, JLG, GME, and others.
- Fulfills DOT rules and regulations regarding oversize loads and permits.
- Performs daily inspections of the delivery truck.
- Maintains compliance with DOT driver qualification rules and regulations.
- Retrieves dispatch information and documents equipment status using company-provided tablet/phone.
- Communicates equipment damages to Rental Coordinators promptly.
- Reports equipment issues to Lead Technicians for resolution.
- Assists with service tasks as needed.
- Reports delays, accidents, and incidents related to equipment pick-up or delivery.
- Reports highway safety hazards observed during routes.
- Maintains the appearance and mechanical condition of the delivery truck.
- Represents Western States and The CAT Rental Store professionally, adhering to customer care standards.
Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities
- Working knowledge of CAT and other brands of construction equipment.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge and use of Microsoft computer products or other comparable systems.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work overtime with minimum notice.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).
Physical Characteristics
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk, sit, reach (including above-shoulder reaching), bend, stoop, push, pull, lean, twist.
- Ability to generate 97 ft./lbs. of force, by pushing and pulling.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. from the ground and place on a shelf/platform set up to 65 inches off the ground.
- Ability to carry up to 20 lbs. while repeatedly ascending/descending a minimum of ten, 8” stair steps.
- Ability to repeatedly ascend/descend a minimum of 10 rungs on various ladders.
- Ability to assemble/disassemble various sizes of nuts and bolts, while repeatedly bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and/or crouching.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures and environments.
Education And Experience
- Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Valid Class A - CDL driver’s license with an excellent driving record and current DOT physical card.
- Minimum of six months commercial driving experience with over-the-road tractor & trailer experience.
- Minimum of six months in usage and operation of light construction equipment preferred.
