About the role

The Delivery Driver and Delivery Helper are responsible for delivering, assembling, and installing products in customers' homes or businesses with care, accuracy, and professionalism. This role ensures timely and safe transportation of products, provides positive customer experiences during delivery and setup, and complies with all company policies, safety standards, and DOT regulations. The position supports smooth coordination between dispatch, warehouse, and customer service teams.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver furniture and home accessories to customers' homes and businesses with exceptional care and professionalism. Ensure timely and accurate delivery according to scheduled appointments, maintaining route efficiency throughout the shift.
  • Verify item counts, conditions, and load accuracy against the delivery manifest before departing the warehouse. Organize the truck load strategically for efficient route sequencing and safe transport of all products.
  • Unpack, assemble, and install products according to manufacturer guidelines. Test functionality and confirm proper operation of all items before leaving the customer's site.
  • Lay protective materials over floors, doorways, and walls to prevent damage to the customer's home during delivery and setup. Take all reasonable precautions to safeguard customer property throughout the delivery process.
  • Remove all packaging materials, debris, and old furniture (if applicable) from the customer's home upon completion of the delivery. Leave the delivery area clean and presentable.
  • Provide a courteous, professional, and positive experience during every delivery interaction. Answer basic product questions, demonstrate usage when required, and represent the Ashley HomeStore brand with integrity.
  • Follow established escalation procedures when a customer refuses delivery, disputes damage, or requests to speak with management. Notify dispatch or customer service in real time and document the situation accurately.
  • Inspect all items for damage before loading, during transport, and upon delivery. Document and report any issues, discrepancies, or property damage promptly using company-provided tools.
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs, customer signatures, and proof-of-delivery records using company-provided handheld devices or route management technology. Ensure all required documentation is completed before departing each stop.
  • Handle product returns, exchanges, and refusals according to company procedures. Ensure returned merchandise is documented, handled properly, and communicated to the appropriate teams.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT regulations. Maintain truck cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness at all times. Report any mechanical issues, safety concerns, or equipment needs to management promptly.
  • Follow all safety protocols for lifting, handling, and transporting items, including team-lift procedures for heavy or oversized products. Adhere to all company policies, DOT regulations, and traffic laws during driving and delivery operations.
  • Maintain a clean, professional appearance at all times. Wear the required company uniform and personal protective equipment in accordance with company policy.
  • Work closely with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customer service teams to ensure smooth daily operations. Communicate route delays, schedule changes, or customer issues to the appropriate teams promptly. Assist in training new team members when needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Experience operating a 26-foot box truck, and valid DOT medical card, required.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

  • Able to lift and maneuver furniture up to 150+ lbs. with assistance.
  • Work environment includes retail stores and distribution centers.
  • Schedule includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays, as required.
