Rental Asset Analyst
About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded Rental Asset Analyst to support the performance, utilization, profitability, and reporting of our rental asset portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Analyze rental asset utilization, availability, downtime, revenue, margin, repair costs, and lifecycle performance across the portfolio.
- Build, maintain, and improve Excel-based reporting models, dashboards, trackers, and performance summaries.
- Work with large datasets from ERP, rental management, finance, CRM, telematics, or other operational systems to identify trends, exceptions, and improvement opportunities.
- Use AI tools and data-analysis platforms to clean, classify, summarize, and interpret large volumes of rental asset data efficiently and accurately.
- Support monthly and quarterly reporting on portfolio performance, asset returns, underutilized equipment, revenue leakage, and capital allocation.
- Develop insights that help improve rental pricing, portfolio mix, asset redeployment, maintenance planning, and investment decisions.
- Partner with operations and finance teams to investigate variances, reconcile data, validate assumptions, and ensure reporting accuracy.
- Create ad hoc analyses for leadership, including asset profitability, customer rental behavior, geographic demand, replacement timing, and disposal recommendations.
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring reports, streamline manual processes, and improve data quality.
- Present findings clearly to stakeholders, translating complex analysis into practical business recommendations.
Requirements
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability, including pivot tables, Power Query, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, complex formulas, data validation, scenario analysis, and dashboard creation.
- Strong ability to analyze large datasets, identify patterns, validate data integrity, and draw commercially useful conclusions.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools to assist with data cleaning, summarization, anomaly detection, forecasting, reporting, or productivity improvement.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Able to communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working with operational, financial, rental, equipment, inventory, or asset management data.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of curiosity, accountability, and willingness to improve processes and challenge existing reporting methods.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business analytics, economics, operations, supply chain, data analytics, or a related field preferred.
- Two or more years of experience in an analyst role, preferably within rental equipment, asset management, portfolio operations, logistics, finance, construction equipment, industrial services, or a similar asset-intensive business.
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, Python, ERP systems, rental management software, CRM systems, or other business intelligence tools.
- Understanding of rental asset economics, including utilization, yield, maintenance cost, depreciation, return on capital, and lifecycle value, is preferred but not required.
- Highly analytical and comfortable working with imperfect or incomplete data.
- Commercially aware, with the ability to connect data insights to business outcomes.
- Proactive, organized, and able to take ownership of recurring reporting and improvement initiatives.
- Collaborative and confident working with stakeholders across operations, finance, sales, and leadership.
- Innovative mindset with a practical understanding of how AI tools can improve speed, accuracy, and insight generation.
