Renbrook PLUS Afterschool Positions: Lead Teacher, Assistant Teacher, or Activity Specialist (Based on Experience)
About the role
Supervise groups of students, daily, outside of typical school hours, while contributing to the development and implementation of all program components and activities related to child-centric, exploration-based Renbrook PLUS offerings.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and engagement of students in your care, as you manage a classroom outside of typical school hours and during vacation weeks.
- Create, plan, implement, and participate in purposeful, engaging and developmentally appropriate programming that meets the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of each individual student.
- Adeptly manage groups, solve problems, and resolve conflicts.
- Serve as a role model and demonstrate professional behavior.
Requirements
- Exhibit an interest in and passion for working with children of varying ages (Preschool-Grade 4) and interests, along with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Maintain an understanding of and appreciation for the academic and social development of students.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to effectively communicate with various constituents, including students, parents, faculty, and colleagues.
- Facilitate a welcoming environment that invites exploration and promotes positive play.
- Employ and promote a team-first mentality in all areas, including supervision, communication, and interaction with others.
- Develop a deep knowledge of and appreciation for Renbrook PLUS, including their purpose, goals, policies, and standards.
- Uphold professional and respectful working relationships with colleagues.
Qualifications
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or have equivalent professional experience working with children, and/or training in elementary or early childhood education.
- Have previously created interactive, educational, or artistic activities or programs for children.
Skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience with child development and education.
