Remote Volunteer Community Resource Directory Specialist
About the role
We seek volunteer Community Resource Directory Specialists to help us maintain a reliable directory.
Responsibilities
- Research approved resource categories, geographic areas, and service providers
- Verify public contact information, services, populations, hours, costs, accessibility, and referral instructions
- Record source URLs, verification dates, eligibility language, and unresolved questions
- Standardize categories, tags, descriptions, locations, and search terms
- Identify expired, duplicate, unavailable, or potentially unsafe resources
- Contact providers using approved verification scripts when needed
- Maintain update schedules and data-quality reports
- Avoid collecting unnecessary personal information or recommending a provider as guaranteed suitable
Qualifications
- Strong online research, fact-checking, data entry, organization, and writing skills
- The ability to distinguish verified information from assumptions
- Familiarity with community services, schools, nonprofits, health/wellness, housing, food, employment, or youth resources is helpful
- Experience using spreadsheets, databases, CRM, or directory tools
- Reliable follow-through and respectful provider communication
