Remote Tech Support Engineer

About the Role

As a Remote Technical Support Engineer at Daktronics, you’ll troubleshoot complex technical issues across digital LED display technology and audio systems. You’ll provide responsive, first-time resolution to customers via phone, email, and community requests, while delivering an exceptional customer experience. The role includes shift work, after-hours support, and occasional on-site service for installations or events. You’ll collaborate with teams, document solutions in the knowledge base, and advance your technical expertise through ongoing training.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve customer technical support requests via calls, emails, and community platforms, ensuring first-time resolution.
• Troubleshoot simple to highly complex hardware and software issues using a logical, detail-oriented approach.
• Collaborate with internal teams to escalate or resolve product issues as needed.
• Provide periodic on-site support for service projects, installations, and event technical service (frequency varies by location and seasonality).
• Create and update knowledge base articles for internal and external use.
• Document detailed notes in Salesforce for all customer interactions, including troubleshooting steps and site-specific information.
• Participate in after-hours rotation, providing 24/7 technical support during nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Engage in regular technical training to stay current on Daktronics products and systems.

Daktronics supports a diverse range of clients, including:

• Major league teams such as the Texas Rangers, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, Seattle Kraken, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Los Angeles Clippers.
• 18 of the last 19 NFL championship games, enhancing fan experiences with LED solutions and control systems.
• International venues like Piccadilly Circus, Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Qatar Foundation Stadium, and The Venetian Macau.
• High-profile locations such as Times Square, the Las Vegas Strip, Circa Las Vegas (home to the world’s largest sports book), LAX, Denver International Airport, and digital billboards worldwide.
• Shopping centers, casinos, government facilities, military installations, and more.

Requirements

• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred in fields such as Information Systems, Network & Security Administration, Electronics Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, or Computer Engineering Technology.
• Non-technical majors considered with demonstrated technical aptitude and learning ability.
• Proven ability to quickly grasp technical concepts, retain knowledge, and communicate effectively with customers of varying technical levels.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in customer service or call center environments preferred.
• Ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment, and responsible time management while working remotely.
• Proficiency in Microsoft operating systems, internet navigation, word processing, and spreadsheets.
• Willingness to travel to South Dakota up to twice per year for training (must comply with Daktronics Driver Eligibility Policy and pass a motor vehicle record check).
• Fluent in English (written and verbal).
• Must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in the United States (Daktronics does not sponsor immigration visas for this position).

Location

This is a remote position based from a home office in South Dakota. Candidates must reside within a commutable distance of Brookings, South Dakota.

Pay

The typical hiring range for this position is $24.00 to $25.00 per hour, based on location, education, experience, and applicable local legislation.
