Remote Pilot Operator - RPO

About the role

Smart1 Management Solutions, LLC is a small, woman-owned consulting firm providing business and management consulting services to nonprofits and government agencies. We are seeking a Remote Pilot Operator (RPO‑EnRoute) to join our Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team, partnering with SAIC at the Jacksonville ARTCC to support Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) air traffic controller training. This is a contract, full‑time position requiring in‑person work in Savannah, with the expectation that candidates can reliably commute or relocate before start date.

Responsibilities

• Act as the pilot and other controllers in the Air Traffic Controller training simulator.
• Operate a simulated radar display and voice communication system to replicate pilot actions and communications from remote ATC facilities during medium‑ and high‑fidelity training exercises.
• Receive voice commands from student controllers, input appropriate entries into the automated system to simulate pilot behavior.
• Translate displayed information into proper ATC terminology and respond to students via the voice communication system using standard phraseology.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship (required) with ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to reliably commute to, or relocate to, Savannah before the start date.
• Confidential security clearance preferred.

Skills

• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams (multimedia developers, QA, instructional system designers, SMEs, instructors).
• Experience and certification in ATC Tower, TRACON, or En Route simulation labs.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of FAA Order JO 7110.65.
• Effective team‑building skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
• Basic familiarity with current technological tools (tablets, notebooks, applications).
• Basic familiarity or experience with pilot/controller communications and phraseology.
