Remote Mental Health Counselor

About the role

ValorWell provides virtual mental health care to veterans and their families. We're looking for fully licensed mental health clinicians who want to continue doing meaningful clinical work while maintaining control over their schedule, their clinical judgment, and the kind of clients they serve.

What makes ValorWell different

• $75 per completed session — paid weekly. Compensation shouldn't be buried at the bottom of a job posting or treated like a secret.
• You control your availability. This is not a traditional 40-hour clinical position. You decide how much availability you want to offer and can build ValorWell around your existing professional and personal commitments.
• We handle the administrative side. You shouldn't have to spend your clinical time dealing with billing, collections, or insurance phone calls. ValorWell handles that infrastructure so you can focus on providing care.
• Your license means something here. We hire clinicians because of their professional judgment—not so we can micromanage it. We want clinicians practicing within their competence, making sound clinical decisions, and being treated like professionals.
• Telehealth-first. Care is delivered virtually, allowing you to work remotely while serving veterans and families who may otherwise have difficulty accessing appropriate mental health care.
• Choose the kind of work that fits you. We don't believe every clinician should be expected to treat every diagnosis, population, or clinical situation. Good matching matters for both clinicians and clients.
• Tools designed around clinical work. We're building our clinical systems to reduce unnecessary documentation and administrative friction rather than simply recreating outdated healthcare workflows on a computer.
• Support when cases get complicated. Clinical autonomy doesn't mean being left alone. ValorWell is building clear consultation, escalation, and crisis-support pathways for situations where clinicians need additional support.

Opportunity to help shape what we're building

ValorWell is still at a stage where clinicians can meaningfully influence how the organization develops. That includes our clinical workflows, documentation tools, technology, quality standards, support systems, and the way we approach veteran and family mental health care. We're not looking for clinicians who simply want their name added to a provider directory. We're looking for people who want to help build a better clinical environment while continuing to do the work they became clinicians to do.

What we're looking for

You may be a strong fit if you:

• Hold a license permitting independent mental health practice
• Want to provide telehealth therapy to veterans and/or their family members
• Value clinical autonomy and professional accountability
• Are comfortable working as a 1099 independent contractor
• Communicate clearly and reliably with clients and the clinical team
• Want strong operational support without unnecessary clinical micromanagement
• Care about improving how mental health care is actually delivered

Clinicians can indicate the amount of work they're interested in, whether that's approximately 1–5, 6–10, 11–20, or 20+ sessions per week. ValorWell does not promise or guarantee a specific caseload. We'd rather be transparent about that upfront than make recruiting promises we can't guarantee.
