Remote Customer Service Representative
Our client is a large multi-state dermatology network with more than 150 locations across 17 states. It focuses on improving skin health by educating communities and healthcare professionals about dermatologic care, skin cancer prevention, and healthy skin practices. About the Role
The Customer Service Representative supports dermatology professionals by delivering responsive, patient-focused service and helping ensure a positive experience throughout each interaction. This role manages billing-related communications, verifies patient information, addresses account questions, and processes payments while contributing to efficient patient service operations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for incoming billing-related customer service calls.
- Provide quality customer service and respond promptly to patient inquiries.
- Handle high-volume incoming calls and other patient communications.
- Return phone messages within 24 hours.
- Address complaints professionally and diplomatically while performing effectively under pressure.
- Research and resolve patient account issues using available resources.
- Verify and accurately update patient insurance and demographic information.
- Document all patient account activities clearly and accurately.
- Set up payment plans and process credit card payments by phone.
- Use the billing system effectively while maintaining proper grammar and data accuracy.
- Participate in special projects and other initiatives as assigned.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Adhere to the organization’s Code of Conduct and Mission & Value Statement.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of health plan benefits, including deductibles, copayments, and eligibility verification.
- Ability to read, interpret, and explain Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and patient financial responsibilities.
- Preferred education or certification in medical billing.
- Experience with the ModMed/EMA practice management system is a plus.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive patient and financial information with professionalism and confidentiality.
Pay
Compensation range of $19.00 to $24.74 per hour, based on skills, experience, location, and internal equity.
