Remote Compliance Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and internal control programs.
  • Monitor company operations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and industry regulations.
  • Review existing processes and recommend improvements to strengthen compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Conduct compliance audits, assessments, and reviews to identify potential risks or areas requiring improvement.
  • Track regulatory updates and communicate changes that may impact company operations.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Transportation, Human Resources, Safety, Finance, Legal, and other departments to support compliance initiatives.
  • Create and maintain compliance documentation, records, reports, and audit materials.
  • Investigate compliance concerns, incidents, and policy violations while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Create corrective action plans and monitor progress to ensure issues are properly resolved.
  • Absorb and coordinate responses to internal and external audits.
  • Ensure employees understand and follow company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs and educational materials.
  • Maintain compliance tracking systems and databases.
  • Review vendor, carrier, and partner compliance requirements when applicable.
  • Support risk management initiatives designed to reduce operational and regulatory exposure.
  • Identify opportunities to improve compliance processes through technology and automation.
  • Ensure compliance activities align with company values, safety standards, and customer expectations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and strategic business initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Compliance, Risk Management, Supply Chain Management, Legal Studies, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, auditing, operations, transportation, logistics, or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience conducting audits, investigations, assessments, or compliance reviews.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to interpret regulations, policies, and operational requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience preparing reports, documentation, and compliance presentations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in transportation, logistics, freight, supply chain, or third-party logistics (3PL) environments.
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, FMCSA requirements, and transportation compliance standards.
  • Experience with safety compliance, vendor compliance, or operational risk management.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or similar credentials.
  • Experience with compliance management systems, audit platforms, or enterprise risk management tools.
  • Experience developing employee training programs and compliance communications.
