Their program includes an online and call-center-based insurance agency that utilizes a proprietary sales technology platform to serve thousands of consumers efficiently, offering both direct-to-consumer and digital purchase experiences.

About the Opportunity

The Competitive Intelligence Analyst role supports strategic decision-making by monitoring market dynamics and competitor activities within the life insurance sector. This position is responsible for translating complex market intelligence into actionable insights, maintaining competitive intelligence tools, and collaborating across functions to identify opportunities and risks. The role contributes to sustaining the organization's competitive advantage by informing executive leadership with precise, impactful intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor competitor actions, product developments, underwriting, pricing, distribution, technology, and market trends to identify significant changes and opportunities.
  • Convert raw data into clear, executive-ready reports using the Insight → Implication → Action framework.
  • Develop and maintain competitive intelligence tools including market summaries, competitor profiles, and dashboards.
  • Prioritize intelligence tasks based on impact and feasibility to produce focused and sustainable outputs.
  • Perform detailed analyses on competitor movements, market entrants, pricing shifts, and distribution changes.
  • Analyze organizational market performance and identify factors influencing success or challenges.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate intelligence and translate insights into actions.
  • Support regular executive competitive reviews and deliver rapid briefs on urgent competitive developments.
  • Manage the SharePoint-based intelligence hub containing all competitive information resources.
  • Utilize AI and automation tools to enhance data gathering, summarization, classification, and reporting while preserving human oversight.

Requirements

  • 5-8+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, market intelligence, strategy, analytics, or related fields.
  • Strong analytical capabilities including benchmarking, gap analysis, trend analysis, and synthesis of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Ability to work with ambiguous information and provide clear, actionable conclusions for senior leaders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience producing executive-level briefs and presentations.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • High intellectual curiosity, structured thinking, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and research tools; experience with BI tools, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, AI-enabled research, or automation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with life insurance, financial services, underwriting, distribution partnerships, or regulated markets is strongly preferred; candidates with related industry experience will also be considered.
