Remote Commercial Construction Accountant

Base salary up to $80,000 (raise up to $85,000 after 90 days) plus bonus. 100% remote, permanent direct hire with a commercial construction company boasting nearly 40 years in business and projects across six states.

About the role

This is a hands-on position involving multi-entity accounting, payroll, journal entries, construction-related accounting functions, and administrative duties. The role requires a strong understanding of GAAP and strong, practical Excel skills, including formulas, data organization, and spreadsheet troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Report to the CFO and prepare and post journal entries while supporting the month-end close process, including reconciliations and WIP.
• Manage monthly customer billing by generating invoices, validating schedules of values, collaborating with project managers on billing requirements, and monitoring project revenue, budgets, and contract balances.
• Review and distribute accounts payable reports, ensure proper coding of corporate card transactions and employee expenses, and assist with collections efforts by following up on outstanding customer receivables.
• Support payroll processing by reviewing timecards, mileage, per diem, and reimbursement data, and recording payroll-related journal entries.
• Administer sales tax filings, year-end 1099 reporting, insurance and compliance documentation, and support intercompany transactions.

Requirements

• Commercial construction accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel experience including formulas, VLOOKUPs, and pivot tables (Excel assessment required).
• Comfort with manual processes.
