About the role
Cayenta, a division of Harris, is seeking an Application Consultant to support strategic IT transformation for utility clients. The successful candidate will act as a conduit between Operations, R&D, and clients, becoming a product expert and trusted advisor for utility CIS implementations.
Responsibilities
- Implement and proactively manage superior utility CIS technology solutions for clients.
- Provide implementation support to new clients by leading them through the implementation process, communicating with stakeholders to ensure successful completion, and resolving issues.
- Train users in system setup, administration, and maintenance.
- Conduct business analysis through gap analysis, root cause analysis, facilitation of business process reviews, and requirements elicitation.
- Understand clients' utility business processes, including customer service, billing, collections, meter-to-cash, and related CIS workflows, and configure applications based on business needs and best practices.
- Own the user acceptance testing and change management process by ensuring stakeholder satisfaction with the outcome of the project through client testing and training.
- Create user documentation and complete handover documentation to assist support staff in providing quality customer care.
- Build clients' capabilities by identifying opportunities to recommend additional products and services that fit their needs.
- Support Project Managers in managing engagement contracts, identifying and escalating bottlenecks, and providing project progress updates.
- Deliver implementation services efficiently to meet key project milestones while supporting effective resource utilization.
- Provide subject matter expertise to R&D and other operational groups by understanding market trends, client needs, and business practices to help ensure product success and maintain market position.
Requirements
- Problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, across all levels of an organization.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, willing to roll up sleeves and work at all levels of the client organization.
- Experience working with both business and IT groups, ideally in a utility CIS implementation or enterprise software environment.
- Curiosity and willingness to adopt emerging AI tools to improve workflows, solve problems, and drive efficiency, including comfort using AI-enabled tools like Copilot, chat-based AI, and automation solutions.
- Experience in software implementation.
- Knowledge of SQL.
- Knowledge of Customer Information System (CIS) processes and functionality, particularly in a utility environment, is a plus.
- Experience providing software implementation services to the utility industry, including CIS implementation, upgrades, testing, or production support, is a plus.
- Strong influencing and coaching skills are a plus.
Qualifications
- Must hold a current, valid passport and be legally eligible to travel internationally.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and the United States.
- Must be able to travel an average of 50% of the time within North America.
